By the end of this course you will have a live website ready to go.

Every photographer needs a website, it is the number one way to showcase your photography and to market yourself to get new work.

Although this course is aimed at photographers I believe it is also very relevant to artists and anyone wanting to present a portfolio or work or products.

On this course I will guide you through the process of setting up your very own portfolio website with the same system that I use for this website.

This solution is great for professional photographers or for those who just want to have a selection of their work online. The packages start at really low costs and you can always upgrade if you need more functionality.

BOOKING

If you are wishing to learn how to use your software and have little or no prior knowledge then I suggest 3 hours is a good place to start. For some people that may well be enough to go on and figure the rest out for yourself, others may want a longer session or come back for further sessions. If you are unsure at all, please do give me a call to discuss.

There are also discounts available for taking a block booking of 5 or more sessions. A lot of people take this up if they wish to continue their learning. Please ask for details of this discount.

The price for your course will vary depending on when the tuition is to be taken, whether it is for 1 or 2 people and of course the length of the session. Just select from the drop down menus above and it will show the price.

Once booked please just get in touch to arrange a convenient date and time for your training. I can usually fit people in within 2-3 weeks.

WEBSITE FEATURES

There are some really nice features, such as the ability to have password protected galleries. So if you have some family photos you want to share with friends and family, you can create a gallery and email your friends the link and password. I do this all the time and just find it’s much better than using Facebook or Flickr, it looks better and you are only sharing with those that you want to. Not to mention you have control over the presentation of your images. But maybe you’re a professional and you want to send clients password protected galleries of their images - this is perfect for that too.

Your website will have a mobile layout, meaning that when viewed on a mobile device such as a phone or tablet your website will adapt to work and look great. Given that so many people are now viewing websites via their mobile devices this is an absolute must-have.

In the galleries you have control over how they work, for example whether the images will be viewed in a grid or a slideshow, whether you are able to click to open larger versions etc. This control is superb because not every set of photos works as well in the same format. Take a look at these two galleries to see the difference...

The Lake District:

Images are presented as a grid (cropped to square to be neater) and with the addition of Lightbox, meaning you can click on the images to open a very simple presentation of the images.

Katie F:

Images are presented in a slider which works great with this little fashion story, to present two portrait images together or one landscape.

Over the years I have tried many different solutions for creating a photography website, some have been okay and some have been a real nightmare. I have certainly wasted money on systems that are less than perfect. I have found none better than the company I use for my website and that is why I offer their system in this course. It’s extremely good value, there are lots of customisable templates to choose from and the support is 24/7.

As a photographer I want control over how my site looks, I want a template as a starting point and then I want to be able to customise that with my own logo, fonts and colour scheme and this system lets me do that. I want to be able to update my website often without having to have coding knowledge, this system allows you to do that with a superb content management system - just log in and start creating pages, galleries and customising your site. When I have a problem, I want to be able to fix it, quickly! The support is just amazing, you normally get a response within an hour and they are very helpful.

In this course I will walk you through the set up of an account and also give you a code to save 10% on an annual subscription. This means the ‘personal’ package is just a little over £50 for a year and you pay this on the day (or before if you prefer) and is separate from the cost of the course.
