I was lucky enough to be asked by a client of mine whether I would consider running a 1 day photography course for her and a friend in Toulouse, France.

I was planning a family holiday to Spain and then France, so a little detour across to the South of France was arranged!

We had originally spoken about heading to the mountains for a day of photography but in the end we decided to go for something a little more urban.

We started the day by heading to a small town near to where my client, Colette lives. Full of rustic charm and was great for a few shots before heading off to Toulouse for the rest of the day.

As well as offering technical advice as we went, I decided to set a few themes/tasks for the day. Simply words that we could use to interpret in to photos...

  • Feeling/Emotion/Mood
  • Colour
  • Red
  • Architecture
  • Portrait
  • Abstract
  • Light

I always try to participate too and I took the following photos, some to the themes and some random ones also.

At the end of the day we tried out Colette's new reflector for a few test portraits which came out really well. Plus it's always fun to watch someone struggle to fold one up and of course I had to talke a shot or two!

Which was really a bit bit mean since Colette was kind enough to let us park up at her home for a couple of nights. Thanks very much for your kind hospitality Colette, we all had a great time.
