Submitting Your Images

Every month you will need to submit up to 5 of your best images for that assignment. You will need to do that by the deadlines provided above and failure to do so could mean you missing out on your feedback.

You will submit your images via Dropbox www.dropbox.com

At the beginning of the course I will invite you to join a shared Dropbox folder. Go ahead and accept that invitation and if you don't already have a Dropbox account, just sign up for a free account. Once you have done all of this I strongly recommend that you install the Dropbox software on your computer as it will make your life much easier. https://www.dropbox.com/install

Installing Dropbox on your computer means you will have a new folder on your hard drive called 'Dropbox'. This is usually situated with your other main folders like 'Photos' and 'Documents'.

When you open the Dropbox folder you will see some folders, one of which will be the folder I shared with you which will be called 'Your Name (PcT1)'. Any files you put inside this shared folder will appear with me, magic! Any files you put in Dropbox but outside of that shared folder will not appear with me.

Please copy and paste your photos in to the appropriate folder, don't just move them. There will be a folder for each assignment.

What Size and Format?

For Photoclub Technical I will specific in the assignment how to save your images.

Naming Your Files

This is actually a really important step.

For Photoclub Technical I will specify in each assignment how to name your files.

If your files are named incorrectly they could be missed and not included in the slideshow and miss out on feedback too.

Receiving Your Feedback

Feedback for Photoclub Technical is done in the pub on the evening of the meeting or for online members in the form of a video screencast that I place in your Dropbox folder.

Staying in Touch

Every member of Photoclub is invited to join a private Facebook Group. Just simply follow this link and ask to join, I will approve that request and you are then a member.

The Facebook Group is a great place to keep in touch with other members, to ask questions and to share work in progress. I think this is a really valuable part of the course and would encourage you to come and join and say hi.

If you have any questions regarding the assignment, feel free to ask them in the group, you never know the answer may benefit others too.

Couldn't Complete Assignment?

Life can take over sometimes and this may mean you run out of time to complete an assignment. I'm not going to tell you off! this is supposed to be fun and I don't want you to get stressed about it.

Ideally though if you could just place a text file in the assignment submission folder that just says something like "Sorry Andy I ran out of time and didn't manage any photos". That way I can rule out a technical problem with the submission itself.

Obviously I want you to get your money's worth and the more assignments you can complete, then the better that works out but sometimes it's not the most important thing that month.

What to bring with you

For those doing Photoclub Technical 2 in the pub, please bring...

  • A pen and pad to make notes
  • Some money for a drink
  • A smart phone or tablet (not essential)

It would be really useful if you could visit the assignment page and have it on your phone or tablet for the meeting in the pub. Alternatively please print out the assignment and bring with you.
