This course consists of two full days of photography with me on hand to give you expert tuition. This is a fun and social workshop where we will explore Prague whilst working on our individual photo projects, both as a group and as individuals. The projects will culminate in a beautiful photo book of the group's work.
The essence of this photography workshop is to create a body of work taken in Prague. You will then need to select your images to go into the group book - up to 25 sides per person. I will be giving you a more detailed brief for this assignment over dinner on the Friday and throughout the workshop I will be offering advice on how best to fulfil the brief.
We start the project with a group photowalk together and we will also have a time to ourselves to photograph on our own initiative or in pairs or smaller groups.
Friday 19th October 2018
We meet on the Friday evening and, over a drink, get to know each other and I will talk about the assignment which will form the basis of your weekends photography and of course the photobook.
Saturday 20th October
Saturday morning we will meet at 7.30am for breakfast before heading out at 8am for a photowalk around Prague, I will be right on hand to give you help and advice and show you some of the Prague highlights.
We will take a break for something to eat at whatever eatery catches our eye.
You will spend the afternoon working on the photos for your assignment. This can be done on your own, in pairs or small groups.
Back to hotels to freshen up
Saturday evening we will meet again for a quick dinner before we all head out to take photographs.
We will take advantage of last light and will then continue shooting in to the night using tripods and long exposures to take beautiful photographs of city scenes.
Sunday 21st October
On Sunday we will meet for breakfast at 8.30am for a quick recap and make sure everyone is ok with how their assignment photos are progressing. We will discuss your next options before you head in your own to photograph the next leg of your project.
Shooting your photographic project on your own, in pairs or small groups.
We will arrange to meet at a specific place where we will take a break for something to eat.
After lunch we will spend a couple of hours together in the afternoon, we may a visit a museum or historical place - one that us allows us to take photos naturally.
The weekend will finish at 4pm, at which point you may choose to head home or spend more time in Prague should you wish.
During the workshop we will discuss at length creating a group photobook. We will discuss how to take your photos, how to prepare them, also the importance of consistency and sequencing for maximum effect.
After the course you will have two weeks to submit your photos for the group photobook. Each person will have up to 25 sides in the book. You may choose to do a single photo per page, double page spreads or two photos per page or a mixture depending on how many photos you want to have included in the book. These images should be in high resolution format and will be numbered in the sequence you wish them to appear. I will then layout and arrange for the book to be printed and delivered to you.
So often we just leave our photos on our computers, but there is something really special about having a look back at our photos in a beautiful photobook. I hope that if you haven't created a photobook before that this will encourage you to do it more often.
The cost for this is £279 per person, you can choose to pay the full amount now or a £75 deposit now and then the balance 6 weeks before the workshop. Please make sure you read the Holiday T&Cs page before booking.
Please note that the price does not include travel, accommodation or meals. I would recommend you stay not too far from where I will stay (TBC) as this will be our starting point will be each day. If you would like some guidance with booking hotels and travel please get in touch and I can help you.
My style of teaching is relaxed and I will not be looking over your shoulder every two minutes to make sure you're doing it right. I give you space to be creative and enjoy your photography, but should you need me then I am on hand to help you achieve the shots you want. If you don't want or need any tuition at all, then that is fine too.
