Cuckmere Haven Landscape Course

Cuckmere Haven Landscape Course

Spring landscape photography course run at the beautiful Cuckmere Valley.

I am running this landscape photography workshop for up to 10 people.

Date: Saturday 14th April 2012
Times: 5.30am – 9.30am
Meeting place: The Seven Sisters Country Park Carpark (Pay & Display)

The cost for this landscape course is just £30 per person!
Photoclub in the Pub course members get 10% discount.

It’s really easy to book, just select from the below menu and purchase your tickets.

Sunrise will be before 6am, but as there is some light before this, we will meet at 5.30am which will gives us enough time to walk in to the valley and find some good spots to set up and capture the sun rising over the sea and river.

What’s covered in the course?

  1. Composition and Framing
Composition is a very important part of landscape photography and making sure all the right elements come together in one frame is key to a successful landscape image.
  2. Using your camera’s light meter
Your camera will have a light meter built in to it and I will show you how best to use that to get the best results.
  3. Correct Exposure
I’ll show you how to use Aperture Priority (in conjunction with exposure compensation) and also fully Manual modes to achieve perfect exposures.

My goal is that you come away with a much better understanding of your camera and landscape photography. Hopefully some great photos too!

I’ll be on hand at all times if you have questions, either relating to the above points or any others.

What do you need to bring?

  • A camera that has ‘manual’ and ‘aperture priority’ modes. Ideally a digital SLR or a very high-end compact camera
  • A tripod
  • Some sensible clothing: wellington boots, warm clothes, rain proof jacket and an umbrella
  • A flask of tea!

FAQs:

Q. I use a film camera, is that okay?
A. Absolutely, no problem at all.

Q. What happens if it rains?
A. If the weather looks bad the day before, I will ask that you check your email before leaving in case I have had to cancel. If it’s pouring hard then there is no point in trying to run the course and in which case it will be re-scheduled.

Q. I’m not so good on my feet these days, is this okay?
A. I’m afraid not, part of the course will involve some walking and the terrain will be varied.

Q. Can I bring a friend?
A. Of course, either book 2 tickets if you both intend to take photos or just 1 if your friend is just for moral support or to carry your gear!
