In this country we are so lucky to be surrounded by many Nature Reserves, Country Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, National Parks, not to mention areas of recreation too such as beaches, rivers and parks. All of these places are managed landscapes where work goes on to maintain and protect these special spaces for so many people to enjoy, now and in the future. But quite often these areas can be less than perfect, because of the many difficulties faced by the management teams and organisations, especially due to social, political and environmental issues.
I wanted to show a larger view and favoured pairing the images as diptychs over a panoramic format. Quite often the images do not actually meet which gives the illusion of a new landscape whilst remaining familiar, this in turn gives the viewer a second chance to examine the landscape and what it means to us.
