Christmas Photowalk / London
The Christmas Photowalk is here!
This is a creative, fun a social get-together for existing and new clients.
It will involve a fair amount of walking (around 4-6 miles or so), there will be lots photography as we go and of course being Christmas (and my birthday!) there will be a few pub stops along the way.
Christmas jumpers and/or Christmas hats are compulsory for all attendees :-)
For this photowalk I want things to be slightly more structured than usual. I would like to set everyone the task of making a set of photographs on the theme of ‘Christmas in London’. Try to make your set of images tell a story of the day.
These are some of the things I would like you to photograph during the course of the day.
Long Exposures (tripod advisable)
Christmas Light Painting (tripod advisable)
Christmas Food & Drink
For this photowalk there will be as much tuition as you like, so if you need help with your camera or creating long exposures, you only have to ask and I will be very happy to help.
To do long exposures successfully it does mean using a tripod. I would suggest you bring a lightweight travel tripod, but for those not wishing to have to carry a tripod around all day might consider something even more portable like a Joby GorillaPod Stand at the cost of around £25.
There will be a Whats App group set up for this walk, so we can keep in touch during the event, especially if anyone gets separated from the group. Of course everyone will have my phone number to contact me too.
Afterwards I will be encouraging everyone to produce a photobook of their ‘Christmas in London’ photographs. I would suggest that the book should be between 20 and 50 photographs maximum. I will be using the Whats App group to suggest where to get the book made and will help you choose the images if you like. I’m hoping we can set up another photowalk in the new year where everyone can being their books to show each other.
I would also like to present some photographs (up to 10) from each participant in a slideshow on my website.
We will first meet at The Rake pub in Borough Market at 1.30pm.
Nearest tube and rail station is London Bridge.
The route is still in planning but will involve walking and tube journeys. We will cover as much ground as possible and so far this is the rough plan…
The Rake Pub, Borough Market (Meeting Place 1.30pm.2.00pm)
Borough Market - Photography (and eating!) (2.00pm-2.45pm)
London Bridge Underground to Waterloo Underground (via Jubilee line) (2.45pm-3.00pm)
The London Eye (3.00pm-3.30pm)
Trafalgar Square (3.30pm-4.00pm)
Oxford Street (4.00pm-4.30pm)
Regent Street (4.30pm-5.30pm)
Carnaby Street (5.30pm-6.00pm)
Covent Gardent (6.00pm-6.30pm)
Seven Dials (6.30pm-7.00pm)
Covent Garden Tube to Holborn Tube (Piccadilly Line)
The Ship Tavern (7.00pm)
We will finish at the Ship Tavern in Holborn, a lovely little pub that specialises in Gin!
Approximately 4 mile walk from Waterloo Underground station. In my experience this will be more like 5-6 miles detours for photographic opportunities. However we may have to lose a destination or two along the way if we run short of time.
Rough route from Waterloo Underground.
I went on my first photowalk over 10 years ago and I made some great friends that I'm still in touch with today. Having enjoyed photowalks myself I decided to start running them as part of my photography training business.
We do tend to get existing clients coming along on these walks, but it's always great to see new faces too and you will be most welcomed when joining us.
THE RAKE PUB
